"[Spanish] is not a spectator sport!" ~Mariann Blevins
Someone could talk to you all day long about volleyball (or soccer or basketball or whatever), but you won't be a very good player until you get your hands on that ball & practice! Same with Spanish...You can't just sit in class & listen to me talk and expect to "get it."
TO LEARN A LANGUAGE YOU MUST LEARN A NEW SKILL SET, MUCH LIKE LEARNING TO PLAY A SPORT OR AN INSTRUMENT...AND LEARNING A LANGUAGE TAKES PRACTICE JUST LIKE LEARNING A TO PLAY A SPORT OR AN INSTRUMENT! YOU ONLY GET OUT OF IT WHAT YOU PUT INTO IT!!! Do the practice activities below!!!!!!!

You WILL have to put in some time outside of class...
When you are learning a new language, you are learning a new set of skills just like when you learn to play a sport....AND YOU WOULDN'T EXPECT TO MAKE THE TEAM IF YOU DIDN'T PRACTICE!!!!
REMEMBER that learning a language is like building a tower out of blocks. The foundation must be in place before adding to the tower. In math class, a student cannot multiply until he/she masters addition. That same principle applies to learning a foreign language. Language skills can only be acquired through breaking concepts down into small, manageable pieces, and practicing them until mastery is achieved. For this reason, students should expect detailed practice and 3-4 quizzes per week to check for comprehension of material. This provides an assessment so that the student will know what areas he/she needs to work on before the big chapter test.
