What are the important themes in hip hop music?
Who made an impact in the hip hop culture?

Most urban themes in hip-hop music usually talk about how there lives were growing up as a kid.  Most of the time the artist grow up in the ghetto. To them, when you grow up in the ghetto, it's like growing up in the jungle. Tupac Shakur grew up in the streets of LA.  The themes in his song mainly talk about how poor he was growing up.  He also talks about how his mother struggled with taking care of them by herself.  Tupac had nothing else to turn too except violence.  With no father around as a role-model he just hung around with the boys in the neighborhood.
The question that is most asked among the urban music culture is; who made hip-hop what it is today. Hip-hop began around the late 70's early 80s.Most say it was the Sugar Hill gang, others say it was people who just stood on the corners free styling.  People also say that hip-hop started from break dancing.  Break dancing is a part of the hip-hop culture.  Hip-hop music has had a massive effect on the African culture.  The way people dress, dance and even the way they walk.
Another artist who struggled growing up was NAS. Also known as Nasir Jones.  Nas grew up in Queens Bridge New York.  Nas said he was a grown man by the time he was 12 years old.  Nas too, had no major influences in his life.  He only new about music and drugs.  After seeing his brother, Ill-Will, get shot Nas knew he had to change his life around.  The only way he knew how to control hiself was by rapping.  Nasir used his overlook on live and turned it into music.  he said that if you lived around his neighborhood you had to no how to rap. If you didn't you just weren't with the program.
In my opinion I think that hip-hop really bloomed in the late 80's.  Hip-hop didn't only include rap but it included R&B.  Hip-hop was the biggest thing in the 80's.  Everyone wanted to rap or everyone just wanted to dress urban.  Now that it is 2002 hip-hop has become a well-known culture.  Hip-hop is everywhere now.  You're either with it or without it.
