Agricultural Production Technology (8010/36 weeks) Course Description Suggested Grade Level: 10 11; See link for Task List

This course emphasizes one or more areas of plant science, animal science, soil science, agricultural business management, and agricultural mechanization, based upon the student’s employment objective. Local school divisions should select one of the following livestock enterprises: beef cattle, dairy cattle, swine, horses, or sheep. The competencies for the selected livestock enterprise are considered essential for the course. Supervised occupational experience programs and leadership training are important parts of the course. When only single periods are provided, greater emphasis is placed on individualized instruction and supervised occupational experience programs.


Agricultural Production Management (8012/36 weeks) Course Description

Course includes instruction in agricultural mechanics, with emphasis placed on the application of mechanical skills to farm power and machinery, soil and water management, supervised farming programs, and leadership training.

Ag 3 & 4 involves application of many of the principles learned through larger self-projects throughout the year. Some examples are utility buildings( small farm structures), picnic tables and many "approved" projects. These "approved" projects are those in which the student has a need and wishes to build something useful for their specific career choice, hobby,etc. Some examples have been magazine racks, blanket chests, gun racks, cattle trailer repair, utility trailer fabrication, entertainment centers and much more.

• STUDENT MUST COME PREPARED FOR CLASS WITH: NOTEBOOK, PAPER & PENCIL • SHOW RESPECT TO TEACHER & CLASSMATES • NO FOUL LANGUAGE AND/OR MANNERISMS • MUST HAVE PERMISSION TO USE RESTROOM • NO STUDENTS IN UNAUTHORIZED AREAS • TARDIES –FIRST 2 ARE WARNINGS, ALL TARDIES AFTER, WILL RESULT IN DETENTION • NO TOBACCO PRODUCTS • NO HATS ALLOWED IN THE AGRICULTURE BUILDING
