. Welcome to Ag.2 , currently known as Introduction to Animal Systems.

Suggested Grade Level: 9 10
Students develop competencies in each of the major areas of the Animal Systems career pathway including animal nutrition, reproduction, breeding, care, and management. Students learn agricultural mechanics applicable to animal systems. As with all agriculture courses, students will be exposed to principles of leadership and opportunities within student organizations along with Supervised Agricultural Experience opportunities. -. Introduction to Animal Systems is a one-year, single-period, occupational preparation course. Approximately one half of the course is devoted to agricultural mechanics with emphasis placed on skill development in fundamentals of electricity, arc welding, gas cutting and welding, small engines, power woodworking and wood and metal preservatives. Instruction is also provided in animal science and further development of competencies in rural and urban living, leadership, and resource conservation.

Class Expectations Every student is expected to be present in order to get full credit! Many activities(shop assignments) cannot be made-up after that date due to equipment setup,etc. ~Be prompt! We have limited "time", so every minute counts. FFA Membership is strongly encouraged . It is an important part of the total agricultural education program. Membership allows students to explore many facits of careers while enhancing their learning opportunities through Career Development Events (contests) such as forestry judging, small engine troubleshooting, public speaking and many more. Required materials for the 2014-15 classes: a small spiral notebook, a three -ring binder(1 inch), a basic calculator and plenty of pencils!
Each student will be required to keep records on their in-school and out-of-school work experiences related to agriculture. This will be recorded in a workbook provided or with an online recordbook.
