BLACKHAWK DOWN - THE BATTLE OF MOGADISHU - OCTOBER 3, 1993
Pilot Mike Durant's Blackhawk Helicopter (source: Wikipedia) ____________________________________________________________________ Introduction - How did the United States suffer a defeat so embarrassing and humiliating in Somalia that they made an Oscar-winning movie out of it released in January of 2002? Perhaps our instant victory in the first Persian Gulf war instilled too much confidence regarding our foreign policy in the middle east; therefore we found ourselves unprepared for the non-traditional warfare we're engaged in today. Blackhawk Down symbolizes the political and military challenges we face when we're waging war against a non-country. _______________________________________________________________ Note: All assignments are located on Schoology calendar.
