SCHOOL OF LEARNING

To all the little fish in Botts' School of Learning, today is a special day because it is today. There will never be another day quite like today so.... make the best of each moment and have fun learning forever!!!

Please check the website of your child's math and language arts teacher for an update on what's movin' and groovin' in his/her lab classes.
  • Kindergarten Bunchkins in L.A. Lab and Math Lab are one happy bunch. The third and fourth nine weeks bring some great challenges to our little mathematicians.
    1. We will continue working on our math addition facts to 10. Hopefully our brains will become like little calculators.
    2. The concept of time and telling time is a fun unit to begin the New Year. We will focus on telling time to the minute until the last school bell rings at 3:15 in May!!
    3. Fractions will follow the time unit. We will focus on equal parts, ½, 1/3, ¼, 1/5, and 1/6.
    4. The mighty money unit is always fun. The bunchkins will examine each coin becoming aware of the Presidents and symbols. Coin recognition and values will be our #1 focus. However, this math group is so smart; we will naturally practice adding values of coins.
    5. The end of the year will conclude with the concept of subtraction.

I do believe our little mathematicians are Harvard bound!!!!!

In L.A. Lab, we are clicking away with the countdown of the letters. I am so amazed with the understanding our bunchkins have with the sound/letter relationship. They are reading their skills packets with very little help. The bunchkins also have very impressive creative writing abilities. Their sentence structure looks great and very readable. Please encourage your child to write letters, notes, etc., at home. The more they practice with writing skills, the more developed of a writer they become.
Spelling assignments will continue until the last week of May. Please remember to encourage your little speller to read the directions on each page of the spelling packet. This is just as important as spelling the words correctly. Paying attention to details is very important in the world in which we live!!!! Have your little speller challenge him/herself by writing a creative story with the spelling words. This will merit lunch tickets!!!!!
Happy trails of learning with adventures will follow our little angels all through life. So…. Ready…..set……LEARN!!!!!

  • In L. A. Lab, we are clicking away with the countdown of the letters. I am so amazed with the understanding our bunchkins have with the sound/letter relationship. They are learning to read their letter packets with very little help. We will hopefully begin spelling assignments once our minds are able to understand words have begininning, middle, and ending sounds. Please encourage your little angel to sound out words at home especially on their homework letters. Using their sounds to make words phonetically will bridge the gap from writing to reading to .......COLLEGE.

Please come join us during our lab times any day of the week. Lab times are always from 10:15 - to 12:00 Monday through Saturday. Oops, I forgot this is America and we only go 5 days a week.
