Student Registration 1. To begin the registration process, go to our web site: http://ne.nhd.org. Unless a student has participated in a previous contest and registered on a similar system prior to this event, the teacher is required to enter some basic information before the student can begin registration. Examples: student school, student name, student school state, and the last four digits of the student’s social security number. Please check with your teacher to confirm this has been done. 2. On the left side of the home page there is a navigation bar that consists of nine links (Home, History Day 101, District Competitions, State Competition, National History Day, News and Events, Teacher Resources, Contact Us, Online Registration). 3. Click on the last link titled “online registration”. You will be redirected to a new page. 4. Select “National History Day Nebraska” from the list of all available districts. 5. From the drop-down list of registrant types, choose “competing students” and click the Submit button. 6. If you have registered through this system for a previous contest, you should have created a username and password for yourself. Enter the same username and password on the login page to access this new contest. You can now move on to step 10. If you do not remember your login information, click the link “Forgot your login information” under the login area and follow the instructions provided to obtain this information. 7. If you are registering for a contest for the first time, select the link “Don’t have a username and password? Click here to begin”. In order to set up a username and password, the teacher must have entered some basic information about the student, including the school state, student last name, and last four digits of the student’s social security number or any four numbers the student will remember. The system will now ask the student for this information. Enter the information and select the Submit button. 8. The next page will ask the student to confirm his/her identity. Select yes or no. If you select “no”, retry your entry. If you select “yes”, go on to step 10. 9. Establish a username and password for yourself. Once you have done this, you will automatically be taken to your status page. 10. Every time you login you will be directed to your registration status page, which shows the status of your registration and fees. Please take time to study this page and read the instructions at the top. 11. Note that each required registration item is denoted by a red asterisk (*). You will also notice that each required field is complete only when a green icon () appears to the left. Check the accuracy of the personal information that your teacher provided when s/he initiated the online registration and completes your personal information by clicking where it states: “Who you are: YOUR NAME”. You should complete this step in the presence of one of your parents/guardians. 12. Provide a Statement of Originality regarding your work by clicking the field titled “Statement of Originality” and agreeing to the statement so we know it’s your work. 13. Apply, if you wish, for various awards and an NWU scholarship. 14. Complete (if it was not previously completed by your teacher or a parent or other students) information about local media. These media outlets will be informed if you are one of the contest winners. 15.
