Chapter 13 -- Geologic Time
You will learn:
- How geologic time is divided into units.
- How trilobites from different periods of the Paleozoic era may
have evolved through geologic time.
- How plate tectonics affects changes in species.
This is important because organisms change through time, scientists
can describe Earth history using the Geologic Time Scale.
You will learn:
- Dominant life-forms in Precambrian time and the Paleozoic era.
- How organisms adapted to changing environments in Precambrian
time and the Paleozoic era.
- Changes in Earth and its life-forms at the end of the Paleozoic
era.
This is important because the world you know today was created by
physical and biological changes that occurred in the Mesozoic and early
Cenozoic eras.
You will learn:
- How dominant life-forms in the Mesozoic and Cenozoic eras compare
and contrast.
- How changes caused by plate tectonics affected the evolution of
life during the Mesozoic era.
- When humans probably first appeared on Earth.
This is important because as Earth's environments, plants, and
animals changed through time, Earth became suitable for human life.
