Welcome to High School! I’m very excited to be teaching you Algebra II this year. Curriculum: Advanced Algebra. This is the level of Algebra needed for success on the SAT exams and for business-related activities on many levels. At the end of each semester, students will take the Kent County High School Benchmark exam. These will be timed and students must pass both these tests and Algebra II to earn course credit. Supplies: A graphing calculator will be provided for school use, you are encouraged to bring your own batteries. School calculators & other math supplies are not to leave the classroom; accordingly, for work at home, you will need a graphing calculator, (TI-83 or TI83+ are fine), graph paper, a protractor, a compass, and a ruler. Also, you need a 5-sectioned, 3-ring binder for your Algebra II notebook (see next page for details), and a card box, with alphabetical dividers, and 3X5 note cards for vocabulary work. The card box may be left in class, and taken home as needed for updates. Grades: Students earn grades averaged in the following percentages: 50% Tests, 20% Quizzes, 20% Class Work, 10% homework. All students will receive interims, detailed grades are available on line, and students will be given detailed progress reports bi-weekly.
