Italian Reciprocal Reflexive Verbs

Romeo and Juliet meet, hug, kiss, and fall in love. They comfort each other, admire each other, and get married—but not without some help from reciprocal reflexive verbs! These verbs express a reciprocal action that involves more than one person. The plural reflexive pronouns ci, vi, and si are used when conjugating reciprocal reflexive verbs:

Si sono abbracciati affettuosamente. (They embraced each other affectionately.)
Si sono visti tutti i giorni. (They saw each other every day.)
Si sono scritti frequentemente, dopo quell'estate. (They frequently wrote to each other after that summer.)

Reciprocal verbs follow the same pattern as reflexive verbs, but they are limited to the plural forms noi, voi, and loro.
