Welcome to Mrs. Nicholas's
Fundamentals of the Catholic Faith class for Freshman!
I am looking forward to this year with the Freshman class! I hope you find this introductory course in religion at Saint Viator to be useful, informative and even FUN, at least sometimes! It is my prayer that we will all grow in our faith in God this year as we share, discuss and reflect together. If you haven't already, make sure to take a look at the course Expectations statement below for valuable information.

Wednesday 5/15 through Monday 5/21: Students will present small group projects on the Creed.
For Tuesday, May 22: Studetns will complete the binder article on Mary
Assignments for May 7 to May 14:
For Monday, May 7: Notes for Changing Lanes due. We will complete a reflection in class.
For Wednesday, May 9: "Americans Who Tell the Truth" excersise due. Students will go to website for "Americanswhotellthetruth.org" and write a 2 paragraph response after learning about one person fromt the site.
For Thursday, May 10: Complete binder pages 92-93 based on reading in article on binder pages 88- 91, " What's Wrong with Lying and Cheating"
For Monday, May14: Have study guide ready for review session. These will be checked. Study and Prepare for unit TEST.
For Tuesday, May 15: TEST on Commandmetns 7,8,& 10 (Units 28 and 29 in text/

We are watching the movie, "Changing Lanes" in class Wednesday - Friday. Students are responsible for the notes sheet they will be using as they watch the movie.. It will be collected at the end of the movie with a reflection on the movie.

We are covering Chapter 21 in our text, "Introduction to Morality"
January 17 to 23: The Beatitudes: We will read two assignments in class and discuss this week. Students should work on their Covey essays at home.
Covey essay due Tuesday, January 24. This is a five paragraph essay. Rubric given in class.
Advertisement homework project due Wednesday, January 25.
For Thursday, Jan. 26: Read Chapter 21 in Text. Be ready for a 10 - 12 points reading quiz. You may use a page of notes to take this quiz.
For Friday, Jan. 27: Binder Check: I will check all binder to make sure that last semester's materials have been cleaned out and all necessary materials for this semester are available.

For Wednesday, Jan.4: Read Chapter 20, pgs. 193-203 and take notes for Quiz. Focus on Vocabulary and main points in each section.
For Thursday, Jan.5: I will give out review materials for test on Friday. Finish Crossword for Chapter 20 and worksheet for Chapter 19.
For Friday, Jan.6: Study for test on Friday, Chapters 19 and 20 in text, Sacraments of Healing and Vocation.
Assignments December 14 to December 20:
For Thursday, Dec. 14: 1. Read Text Pgs.183 - 188. 2. Create 4 quiz questions based on the reading material about Reconciliation.
For Friday, , Dec. 16: 1. Read Text pgs 189 -192. 2. Write one paragraph in which Describe what it woud be like to go to Anointing of the Sick. Make sure to answer these questions in your paragraph: Why would I receive this sacrament? Where is it received? How is it received (list the steps.)
Monday, Dec. 19: In class: Read the article "Just forgive" Fill out crossword puzzle. Crossword will be homework if not completed in class.

Thursday, Dec. 8: Work on Review sheets, we will discuss the parts of the Mass and applying some of the concepts we have covered.

Due Wdnesday, October 26: Read black Textbook, Ch 15, pgs 145-149 and write out the definitions for the "terms to know" at the bottom of page 145. You may find these in the chapter or in the glossary at the back of text.
