Fundamentals of the Catholic Faith class for Freshman!




I am looking forward to this year with the Freshman class! I hope you find this introductory course in religion at Saint Viator to be useful, informative and even FUN, at least sometimes! It is my prayer that we will all grow in our faith in God this year as we share, discuss and reflect together. If you haven't already, make sure to take a look at the course Expectations statement below for valuable information.

Textbook information: You should have received information about purchasing our textbook at your IPAD training. Please look for instructions on you student records under "Textbook Mart" Here again, is what you will need for Religion class:

1. Download the KNO app (free from the APP store) on your IPAD.
We will use this site to access our text all year. It allows us to Highlight, annotate and keep notes IN the text.
2. Go to www.kno.com. Search for our text: The Catholic Faith Handbook for Youth, 3rd edition by Brian Singer -Towns, St. Mary's Press.
3. You will have to submit payment and then download the text.
4. You will also need to download the LiveBinders App from the App store. We will keep many of our additional readings and handouts in this space.

Go to your assigned page on this website and find 4 facts or ideas you think the rest of the class should know. 3)Write down these ideas on looseleaf and bring to class tomorrow (Tuesday). Topics are: 1. Teen suicide warning signs, 2. Teen suicide Prevention, 3. Suicide Attempts, 4. Treatment for Suicidal Teens, 5. Suicide prevention organizations and Sites to visit, 6. Teen depression, 7. Teen drug abuse, and 8. Teen alcohol abuse.  Unit test on Commandments 4 and 5 on Wed. 4/16.

Answer the following Questions on a sheet of loosefeaf: 1. Name 2 new things you have learned. Name 2 ways this article challenges what the "world" (media??) says about sexuality. you must have 4 separate ideas.  
Wed. 4/23  Video today with worksheet. You will be required to hand in worksheet on Friday at conclusion of video.  1. Complete terms sheet for Unit 29 and worksheet for pg 324 (on back side of same sheet. Will be given in class. DUE THURSDAY. Possible quiz on Thursday.
