I also want to thank all of you for a very successful year. I have enjoyed working with your children and look forward to visiting with them in the future. There is no doubt in my mind that they are all ready to be super second graders! This week in math we will review adding and subtracting with regrouping. Our final math test will be on Tuesday, June 9th. In Social Studies this week we will continue to learn about Patriotic Symbols, Virginia, and Needs and Wants. Below are a few summer recommendations. 1. Read, Read, Read. 2. Tabb Library in Yorktown has a great Summer Reading Program located in their children’s department. 3. The Teacher’s Store carries a workbook entitled Summer Bridge Activities. The books are sold by grade level (leaving first grade-going into second grade) and help to reinforce content that was taught during the school year. It also introduces up and coming topics. 4. Assist your child in keeping a journal of their activities during the summer (this could be done in a composition notebook). Writing reinforces phonics and reading skills. Have a safe and wonderful summer vacation!
