Hello!  I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.  I hope that you all found your permission slip for the upcoming field trip.  Because of the size of the paper, I stapled them inside your child’s agenda verses putting them in the folders.  The Mariners Museum will come to Mt. Vernon on Wednesday, Oct. 15th to teach us about Columbus, navigation, and early expeditions.  The PTA has supplemented this field trip for us so that we would only have to pay $2.50 each.  Please send your money in ASAP.

I have a few administrative tasks that we need to take care of.  If you have pictures or picture money, please turn it in ASAP.  I am also missing a few federal forms.  These forms are so very important to our school.  Finally, I need the bottom portion of the interim reports that went home Oct. 9th.  Thank your for your assistance in completing these tasks.

Our stories this week in reading are Fish Mix (phonics story) and How Many Fish (main selection).  Skills we are working on this week include the short i vowel, final consonant x, and finding the setting in our stories.

We will have our math test on Tuesday, Oct. 14th.  Our next chapter (3) will cover addition and subtraction with numbers through twelve.

In Social Studies we will continue to study maps, globes, and Christopher Columbus.

For future reference, our on-line scholastic book order user name is adams_mves and our password is scholasticbooks.

I think that is all for now.  Enjoy your week!
