Hi, my name is Magda Pina and I’m from Spring Valley. I go to Monte Vista High School and right now I’m in Taiwan. I’m seeing things in this country that are very interesting. People here speak a different language and dress very differently from us. The reason I am here in Taiwan is that I want to find out more about this country. Taiwan is between China, Japan, and the Philippines. Right now I’m in a church in Taiwan and in this church ninety-three percent of the people practice Buddhism and five percent of the people are Christians. Worship rituals and belief come mainly from Buddhism, including a belief in reincarnation and that good deeds bring good fortune while bad deeds have negative consequences. I got out of the church were the people in Taiwan were praying ad I was walking on the side walk and I saw a man voting, I went up to him and we stared talking, so I asked him what type of government do they have and what age they had to be to vote. After talking to the man I was so hungry I went to this little restaurant. I sat down and this lady came and I asked her what kind of staple food do they have in this country and what food do they eat. she told me that their staple food they eat for a diet is rice and for normal food they eat is soup, rice, meat, and vegetable so I was with my mouth open cause I was thinking about that food in my head. The population of taiwan is that they have 22 million people in this country. Right now I'm with a girl,so I asked her a question, she told me that most of the people in this country live in cities and 5 percent of the people live in rural areas.
