First Grade Math Masters
SOL skills we will cover (and master) this year in math will include (but are not limited to):
Addition and Subtraction to 20
Counting by 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s to 100
Identifying numbers in the ones and tens place
Identifying the ordinal positions first through tenth
Identifying and representing the concepts of one-half and one-fourth, using appropriate drawings and materials
Identifying the numbers of penies equivalent to a nickel, a dime, and a quarter and determining the value of a collection of pennies, nickles and dimes whose total value is less than 100
Telling time to the half hour
Using nonstandard units to measure length and weight
Comparing volumes of two containers
Comparing weights of two objects
Describing the proximity of objects in space (near, far, close by, etc)
Drawing and describing plane geometric figures according to number of sides, corners, and square corners and identifying related objects in the environment
Investigating, identifying, and describing various forms of data collection using tables, picture graphs, and object graphs and intrepreting information displayed in the graph using correct vocabulary
Sorting and classifying concrete objects to one or more attribute
Recognizing, describing, and extending a wide variety of patterns
