Here you will find information for 6th Grade Math Olympiads. WELCOME TO THE SIXTH GRADE MATH OLYMPIADS WEB PAGE! Math Olympiads met Thursday, February 28 for the last practice session. Contest 5, the last competition, was held on Tuesday, March 4 during the students' homeroom time. The end-of-the-year pizza party will be in April. Students will receive their invitations at the end of March. __________________________________________________________ Sixth grade students maintaining an A or B average in mathematics are invited to participate in the Mathematical Olympiads for Elementary Schools, a world-wide organization. As a team, coached by Ms. McCary, Math Olympiads' students engage in creative problem solving activities, learning math shortcuts and strategies. Practices are held during the students' regular math period twice monthly on Thursdays, beginning September 13. Students must have a signed permission form to participate. These forms will be given to the students during their math class, August 24. The signed form is due back by Friday, August 31. The team will participate in five contests, one per month from November through March during their homeroom time. Contests are always held on Tuesdays and cannot be made up if misssed. Contest dates are: Nov.20, Dec.11, Jan.15, Feb. 5, and Mar.4. The Math Olympiads year culminates with a pizza party. Awards are presented at the sixth grade awards assembly in May. Students that wish to participate on the Math Team should know they must also be a member of Math Olympiads. The math team meets every Thursday after school beginning mid-September and is coached by Mrs. Chilton, an eighth grade math teacher.
