NO MORE SPELLING WORDS!!!!!!!!!!
Parents: Well, it’s hard to believe, but the SOLs are finally here! Please check the dates below for which test is on which day.
Due to SOLs this week, no homework will be assigned. I am sending home on Tuesday a math SOL practice test we started in class. I suggest students try some of the other problems before Wed.’s SOL test, but it’s not assigned. Students may also keep the booklet for practice over the summer as review for 4th grade.
Attached to this week’s newsletter are some important papers. The field trip permission slip to 4-H camp, an end of year activity list from my room mom, and an end of year note explaining what we’re doing for our 3rd grade party. The field trip is $20 (please make checks out to Mt. Vernon) and the class party is $2 (please write a separate check to Sharon Delphos or send cash). Please let me know on the permission slip if you’re available to chaperone. Remember chaperones need to bring the same supplies as the students. Some of you may be getting wet!
Also attached are letters about our end of year picnic and awards ceremony and our end of SOL ice cream party. I’m asking each child to donate an item towards the ice cream sundaes. The ice cream sundae party will be on Tuesday, June 2nd. Please send in your items by Monday, June 1st. Thanks!

May 22 – Animal Test. *This is a change!
May 22 – Field Day.
May 25 – Memorial Day. Schools closed.
May 26 – Science Review packet due.
May 27 – Math SOL test.
May 28 – Reading SOL test – part 1.
May 29 – Reading SOL test – part 2.
June 1 – Social Studies/History SOL test; sundae party items due
June 2 – Science SOL test; End of SOL Ice Cream Sundae Party
June 5 - $20 for 4-H Camp field trip due.
June 8 – Tie-Dye T-shirts.
June 9 – Field trip 4-H camp. br>
June 12 – 3rd grade End of Year party – 9:00 – 11:00.
June 12, 15, 16 – Early dismissal days; 12:45
June 15 – 3rd grade picnic and awards assembly (early lunch schedule; assembly in gym afterwards – 11:45).
June 16 – Last student day; 4th quarter report cards issued.
