UNDER CONSTRUCTION

The students have been engaged in the following activities and skills the last two weeks.

LANGUAGE ARTS

*The class put words in ABC order to the 1st and 2nd letter at the ABC order work station.

*Students have been reading and comprehending stories on their level in reading groups.
  
*Students read books of their choice during independent reading.

*My mini-lessons in Writer's Workshop have focused on using the writing traits Vocabulary, Ideas, and Organization in writing.

*Students were engaged in the writing process during Writer's Workshop and have completed published pieces that will go home in their Spring Portfolio in May.

* Students created Happy Spring Break cards for teachers and staff in the Writing Work Station

*The class continued to work on and review capitalization and puncutation.

*Students learned to form capital letters correctly in handwriting.

*Students were engaged in activities using their weekly spelling words.


.MATH
*We  continued to work on place value using manipulatives.

*Problem Solving

*Review of subtraction and addition facts

*Money

*Students used coin recognition, graphing skills, and subtraction of tens in Math Work Stations.

SOCIAL STUDIES

*Community Cirlces dicussing thought and feelings about the War in Iraq

*Juinor Acievement- Laura Chambers did an excellent job of teaching lessons about needs, wants, and jobs in Juinor Achievement

SCIENCE

*Living and non-living things

COMPUTER LAB

*Students have been writing and illustrating stories on the computer using the software Kids
Works Deluxe
