BIENVENUE AU MONDE FRANCOPHONE! This session as French II and French III students you will continue to improve your ability to communicate in French. You will become more fluent through studying the cultures and contacting the people of francophone countries around the world. You will be interacting in class almost exclusively in French. In order for each of you to hear and understand one another well you must be committed to following these rules: 1) Raise your hand before speaking. 2) Refrain from eating and drinking in class. You will be expected to observe all school rules as well as specific classroom rules. Some of these are: 1) Wear your I.D. badge appropriately. 2) Take care of bathroom and water needs between classes and at lunch.(Especially 3rd block ) 3) Do your own work without cheating.(This includes classwork and homework as well as tests.) 4) Be on time. French is a college-preparatory class. As such you will be acquiring organization and study skills necessary for success once you are on your own in college. Having all materials with you in class each day will be your first step in obtaining these skills. You will not be allowed to go to your locker or car to retrieve your materials if you forget them. Materials for this course include: 1) 1 inch ring binder with pockets 2) paper 3) pens and pencils 4) $5.00 class fee to cover art and computer supplies Many of you are working to acquire scholarships and TOPS status. Grades for this course will be based on listening , speaking, reading, and writing activities, quizzes and tests. Some specific examples are: 1) listening to and singing songs. 2) listening to recordings of poems and reciting some. 3) reading and writing e-pal letters. 4) watching FRENCH videos and answering questions about them. 5) workbook and worksheet exercises. 6) creating and participating in interviews and skits. 7) learning, participating in, and teaching games from francophone countries. Many other activities will also be included in this course as well. ALL activities are subject to grading. In some instances participation is as important as the finished product. There will be no bonus work provided in this course. You will be expected to maintain a thorough and current points page in your notebook which will enable you to know at any time your grade average in the class.
