Course Expectations:  Mr. Matt Hynek Algebra II

1. Required Materials

A. Textbook
B. Pencil
C. Notebook
D. TI-83 or TI-83 Plus Calculator
E. Loose-leaf paper

2. Classroom Policies and Procedures

A. Be in your seat and ready to work by the time the bell finishes ringing.
B. Treat everybody with respect and dignity.

3. Evaluation Grades

A. Homework (about 30% of your grade)
Homework is extremely important.  These are the types of problems that you will see on the tests.  Doing homework on a daily basis is the best way to insure good grades.   All homework problems need to be attempted.  You will receive a daily homework quiz at the beginning of most classes checking for understanding and completion of homework.  You must write out all the problems and show all work for each question.  Late homework can be turned in before we test on the material for half credit.



B. Tests (about 70% of your grade)
Tests cover the material covered in the class notes, homework, and the daily quizzes.




5. Attendance / Absence

A. Homework Quizzes- Homework quizzes must be made up as soon as possible during a free period or before or after school.

B. Tests- Make up a missed test as soon as possible during a free period or study hall.

6. Keys to Success in this Class

A.   TRY!
B.   Complete all homework on time.
C.  Limit your number of absences if possible.
D.  Ask questions and come in for extra help if necessary.

7. Teacher Availability

If you ever need extra help let me know.  The math lab is open from 7:20-3:30 everyday.  I can also help you before or after school.  In the morning I am in my homeroom (Room 241) by 7:35.   My phone number at school is 847-392-4050, extension 305.  My email address is mhynek@saintviator.com.
