Language Arts 11   Book report due March 21.  It must be do
ne in ink, printed or cursive.



vocabulary # 91 -100

91. autonomy - independence; self government.  Seeking
     autonomy, the settlers refused to pay taxes.
92. caustic - stinging, biting. Caustic substances should
     be kept out of the reach of children.
93. disperse - send off in different directions.  When the
     tear gas is thrown, the crowd will disperse.
94. effervescent - lively, giving off bubbles. I do not
     like the effervescent quality of ginger ale.
95. forlorn - left alone, unhappy. Feeling forlorn and
     full of self pity, Eddie was a danger to himself.
96. listless - indifferent. Mark's friends tried to rouse
     him from his listless frame of mind.
97. hypothetical - supposed, assumed. I made up a
     hypothetical situation to answer the question.
98. innocuous - harmless. Who would have thought my
     innocuous little remark would have led to a fight.
99. meandering - winding back and forth. We spent a
     pleasant afternoon sailing on the meandering stream.
100. impartial - showing no favoritism. A baseball umpire
     must be completely impartial.
