January 3,2002 HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope this will be a great one for all of you! In math the students are beginning the year with a fraction review. These are challenging concepts, so any extra practice the students have at home will be beneficial. Other concepts are comparing fractions and understanding mixed numerals. Next week we will work on our end of the nine-weeks review that covers all the SOLs related to this nine-weeks. On Thursday and Friday the students will be taking the end of the nine-weeks test for their final grade in math. Reminders: * January 11th is the end of the second nine-weeks. * January 14th and 15th are teacher workdays coming up. * Students should be reading each night for the BOOK-IT reading assignment and completing the log sent home. * Students should also be studying the spelling bee booklet for the January 21st school spelling bee. Thanks for all your support. Please feel free to call if you have any questions. 643-0529 Ms.Mitchell Go to the sites at the bottom of this form to practice math activities on the skills we are learning. funbrain.com Also check out the activities that go with this web page.
