"MARCH MADNESS" UNIT


Objective: To complete research about a college based on teams in the NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament.

Students will be paired up with someone in their 2nd period class. During the "6A Announcement Ceremony" partners will randomly choose a number that corresponds to a spot on the official tournament bracket. When the tournament field is announced, partners will find out which college they will be researching. Each student will be given a copy of the bracket to fill out as the tournament unfolds. Partners will research and record their information on the note-sheet that will be shared via Google Docs. 2nd period teachers will provide the poster board and some time in class to create the posters. Additional time outside of school may be necessary. Please see the Powerpoint link below for more detailed information.

Required Tasks:
1. Research (via the internet) to find specific information about your college
2. Enter the data you find into the note-sheet on Google Docs
3. Organize information into a poster to share with classmates
4. Keep your bracket updated as the tournament unfolds - use link on this website
5. Learn some things about basketball
6. Have fun watching the tournament unfold!

Optional Tasks:
1. Watch the Announcement Ceremony on TV to fill out teams on your bracket
2. Write a letter to the college requesting information (optional because of the timing of Spring Break)
3. Show team spirit by wearing your college colors to school on the days that your team plays
