Back in Time: A Visit to Monticello

Welcome to your history project page. This month we will be learning about the early 1800s in America. We will compare how people lived then with how they live now.

You will get to visit a famous nineteenth century home named "Monticello." This was the home of our second president, Thomas Jefferson, and his family. You can tour the house, see the furniture, read letters written by the President and his family, and even study the garden plants.

Here is your assignment.

Question: How did people live in the early 1800s compared to now?

Investigate one of the following topics, gather specific details about it from the suggested websites or other sources, and then prepare a presentation to report on your findings.

Your presentation can be in any one of the following formats: web page, newsletter, slide show, or tutorial.

Possible topics:
-What did people eat and where did it come from?

-What kind of appliances, furniture, and other conveniences did they have?

Be sure to properly list all of your sources.
