Title: Making Light of Science
Objective:
Introduce students ot the electromagnetic spectrum, focusing on visible light. Students will be introduced to the idea that all light travels as waves, and that wavelength defines the various regions of the EM spectrum.
Grade Level: 6-8
Subjrect Area: Science
Time Required: 1-2 periods
Standards Alignment:
8.3.3 By the end of eighth grade, students will develop an understanding of the transfer of energy.
8.4.1 By the end of eighth grade, students will develop an understanding of the structure and function in living systems.
Learning Goals:
1. Identify characteristics of the EM spectrum.
2. Identify and describe properties of light.
3. Describe the role that light plays in how we ‘see’ objects.
4. Describe how light and the brain interact to perceive color.
