Can you image how difficult life would be without math? How would people be able to design buildings that could withstand the some many forces? Paying for grocery would be impossible. "Mam I'll take a stone for the milk and eggs." Not very realistic. It is for these reasons among many others, that math must be a major focus for students. Our current topic is one many children have a difficult time applying in authentic situations. Fractions! They are used in so many real world applications. For example, when using a measuring tape to see if your new bed will fit into the corner by the window or how big to make the bookshelves for the guest bedroom. One proven method for being successful with fractions is to know your basic facts and division. Fractions are fun and we know our students will have success, so keep practicing your flashcards and shoot for the stars.
