6th Grade Standards

Presentation is so important.  All written work is to be done in erasable blue or black ink unless otherwise specified.  All final copies must be edited for simple grammatical and spelling errors.  All papers must be headed completely and neatly done.

Only 8 1/2" x 11" lined binder paper for written work may be used with longhand or printing by hand. Spiral bound paper is unacceptable except for note-taking.  Written work may also be typed.  Please note that computer or printer breakdowns do not eliminate the obligation to complete work.  Students should hand write their assignments if this occurs.  Handwriting must be legible.

All assignments need to be brought to school by the student on their due dates.  Homework assignments are recorded daily on the white board in the classroom.  They are also available at the QUIA page, accessible from the school's web page.

A missed homework assignment must be completed by the next day for 1/2 credit.  Failure to turn in a homework assignment will result in a 0 for that assignment.
If a student is absent on a test day, an appointment must be made with the teacher for a reasonable make-up date.  Please look over your child's corrected and returned work so that you have a clear understanding of your child's progress.  Go through your child's portfolio on a regular basis.

It is the student's responsibility to see the teacher for all missed work after an absence.

All requests for a parent signature must be returned the next day.  A detention may be given for repeated failures to return parent signatures.

Cheating will not be tolerated. Tests and homework assignments in which cheating has occurred will be regarded as 0 points and a detention will result.  "Answer exchanging" on homework qualifies as cheating.

When given a special project, the student must assume the responsibility for its preparation and completion.  Parents may act as facilitators, but the work that the teacher grades should be that of the student.

If a student or parent has a problem with or a question about these policies, please come directly to me so that we may discuss it.  Parent/teacher conferences cannot take place during school hours, social events, or in casual encounters.  Parent/teacher conferences require privacy, concentration, and oftentimes reference to the grade book.  I will be happy to confer with you at a mutually agreed upon time.  Please send me an e-mail if you wish to conference.

Thank you!
