November's Kindergarten News Kindergarten Highlights November is a time to give thanks. We would like to give thanks to all of our parent volunteers who donate their time to help out in our classrooms. A special thanks to our chaperones, who helped with our field trip. The children enjoyed themselves at the pumpkin patch. We are off to a great start and our children are fitting right into our kindergarten routine. Our focus this month will be on recognizing that history describes events and people of other times and places. We will be emphasizing the historical account of the Pilgrims and Indians at Plymouth Rock during the first Thanksgiving. Our classes will also describe everyday life in the present and in the past. Pocahontas will be a key historical figure during this month too. In science we will be reviewing and investigating the five senses. This will correlate with our fall feast in mid-November. We will also talk about healthy eating habits and the four food groups. Continue to help your child work on letter recognition and letter sounds. We will continue to compare and contrast, sequence events, rhyme words, retell stories, identify and write numbers, and identify verbs and nouns. Continue to check your child’s “Communication” folder for reinforcement activities and class work. Reminder Report Cards go home Wednesday, November 12 Students can wear their kindergarten t-shirts on Fridays and for their Thanksgiving celebration feast.
