IN ROGERS ROOM WE LOVE OUR SMART BOARD !!!!

When on the SMARTboard, the kindergarteners enjoy working on Starfall Reading. They love play with the alphabet blocks. The First Graders love to read with Zac the Rat. The Second Graders like to read Greek Myths and Chinese Fables. Everyone likes to spend some time making a picture of themselves and for every holiday we have to read a holiday story. For the younger children, we use the SMARTboard to model reading and left-to-right progression. We find, touch and circle the words we know. For older readers we practice choral reading and reading with expression. We find, touch and circle verbs, nouns, and punctuation. (Sometimes we even read our Ticket stories together.) Reading is so much fun and EVERYONE wants a turn!

Older students search for pictures of the places we have read about, show them on the SMARTboard. We find a lot of them here. We also hope we can find a live cam if we're lucky. Sometimes we find that Buster has all ready been there so we watch his videos and read his blog. We read our QUIA paragraphs* and talk about the answers. It's fun to cross out, circle and underline words in the paragraph to figure out the main idea or find a detail. We look for the main idea everywhere, like the paragraphs we found here here, here and here. We just LOVE looking for the main idea!
