A NOTE FROM Mrs. Neckel
* Please take care of all financial obligations (missing library books, cafeteria charges, school fees, etc.) before the end of the school year.
* Send a self-addressed stamped envelope to school next week if you want to have your child’s report card mailed to your house this summer.
* The Crosby Library is officially closed for inventory. Mrs. Trotta will send home a half-slip reminder if your little one has missing books.
Highlights from the week ~
In Language Arts this week, the first graders have been working on reflection writing. They finished the “first grade stats” , “fantastic field trip”, “Me in 1st” and “My school rocks” pages in our Year of Many Firsts booklets.
In Math, we took a couple more timed addition and subtraction tests. They are showing HUGE improvement in mental computation abilities!! Thanks for studying the flash cards I sent home.
FIELD DAY
Crosby’s annual FIELD DAY will be May 25th. Our class/ team color is BLUE. We are not making tie-dye t-shirts this year. Please have your child wear as much blue CROSBY spiritwear as possible. I will be making blue headbands with the kids in class and will also buy blue ribbon for the girl’s pony tails. Your child will need sunscreen, a hat or visor and a water bottle for the afternoon. We’ll be outside from 12:15-3:00pm.
Fernald Preserve FIELD TRIP
We had a blast at Fernald Preserve yesterday! Thanks to all the parent chaperones for helping and joining us on our adventure. The pictures I took during the trip are posted in the photo album section of my website on Crosby’s page.

Assessments – We will finish all district common assessments next week.
Charlotte’s Web – The first graders just finished listening to Charlotte’s Web read aloud. We will be watching the movie next week and working on a diagram to compare and contrast the story events in the novel

Market Day
Market Day has great items for spring and summer grilling! Pick up for May will be from 5:30-6:30 on 5.21.12. Please make arrangements to pick up your order in the cafeteria!
Summer Birthdays
As our year in first grade comes to a close, we would like to celebrate with friends who have birthdays in June, July and early August. If your child has a summer birthday, please email me or send a note in your child’s folder to let me know what day you plan to send in treats.
