Electricity

Exploratory Electricity Course of Study The exploratory electricity class at the Washington County Technical School will introduce students to careers in several electricity-related fields. It encompasses basic electrical theory, fundamental terminology, symbols, diagrams and an understanding of the general practices of electrical safety. Students will be participating in activities that correspond with the related topics. Instructional materials will include text excerpts from the MRW text, the CEV curriculum guide, Klein tool catalog, Get Wired CDs and IBEW promotional materials. Various AV materials from selected websites will be used. These sites include: www.ibew.org/, www.kleintools.com/, streaming.discoveryeducation.com/ and http://highered.mcgraw-hill.com/sites/0073106941/student_view0/careers_in_electricity_and_electronics.html. Objectives are listed in the pacing guide with the VA Workplace Readiness skills (DOE #9070) included throughout the class time. Additional reference material will be an ongoing research project.
