Course Description for Licensed Practical Nursing:
Open to seniors and adults - anatomy and physiology, drug therapy, nutrition, medications, mental health, geriatrics and medical surgical nursing. Clinical setting - licensure upon satisfactory score on NCLEX exam - may qualify for Virginia Highlands Community college bridge program and complete RN program one year after graduation.
Class Expectations:
Students will be expected to successfully complete each unit of study and exhibit competence in the clinical settings so that upon completion of the program, they will be eligible to take the Practical Nurse Licensing Examination. Students will also be expected to honor all rules, policies, and regulations of the William N. Neff Center, as set forth by the Washington County Schol Board, as well as those of any cooperating facility.
Instructional Objective:
To adequately prepare students to take, and pass, the Practical Nurse Licensing Examination, which will allow the Licensed Practical Nurse to assist in the assessment, planning, implementation,and evaluation of nursing care and patient education.
Course Description for Certified Nurse Aide:
Classroom and clinical instruction in patient care in hospitals, nursing homes, and home health care facilities. Certification upon completion of program and success on State Board Exam.

Students will be expected to successfully complete each unit of study and exhibit competence in the clinical settings so that upon completion of the program, they will be eligible to take the NNAAP Examination. Students will also be expected to honor all rules, policies, and regulations of the William N. Neff Center as set forth by the Washington County School Board, as well as those of any cooperating facility.
Instructional Objective:
To adequately prepare students to take, and pass, the NNAAP Examination, which is comprised of a written, as well as a skills component. It is necessary for students to pass both parts to be certified as a Nurse Aide, who assists with the care of patients under the supervivion of either a RN or a LPN.
