COURSE DESCRIPTION - The nursing process is a systematic approach to organizing and planning patient care. This course introduces the North American Nursing Diagnosis Association (NANDA) approved nursing diagnosis statements and the nursing process. The nursing process includes assessment, problem identification, planning, setting goals and expected outcomes, interventions, and evaluation. Nursing diagnoses are identified using the nursing process for basic nursing care such as safety, activities of daily living, nutrition, elimination, and mobility. The student will develop a comprehensive care plan for one client using the nursing process.
COURSE FOCUS - This course is entirely and exclusively concerned with the development of critical thinking as a professional practical nurse in understanding and applying the nursing process to nursing practice in a culturally sensitive manner.
