Math 06 Homework for week of 10/11- 10/15
Objectives -

To describe general number patterns in words and with number sentences having one variable; and to write special cases for general patterns.

To write special cases for general patterns having two variables; and to describe such general patterns using two variables.

To write and evaluate algebraic expressions

    Reading Strategies

    Question - Ask questions about the characters. What is the goal of each? Why does each character behave as he or she does?

    Visualize - Use the details of the story to build pictures in your mind. What does the setting look like? How do the characters act?

    Predict - You will notice patterns and common elements in folk literature. Characters frequently behave in predictable ways.

    Connect - Make connections between your life and any familiar elements in the story. What similar issues do people face today?

    Respond - How do you feel and what do you think about the characters and their actions? What have you learned about the beliefs, values, or attitudes of the people who originated the tale?

    1. Use explanations or definitions as context clues to determine the meanings of unfamiliar words and increase vocabulary.

    2. Use prior knowledge and experiences to understand the meanings of words in context.

    3. Use new vocabulary to discuss an interesting insect

    4. Identify homonyms

    WRITING ASSIGNMENT #8 DUE OCTOBER, 10/19/2010 Write a fictional story of a frightening experience you might have or have had on Halloween. REPORT MUST BE ONE FULL PAGE, DOUBLE SPACED, 12 FONT

    WRITING ASSIGNMENT #7 - Due 10/25/2010 Write a story about something that happened in your neighborhood. The story can be about any appropriate event you observes or heard about and should be told from your point of view.

    Tuesday - Practice wb pp.63, 67 Vocabulary WB - Pages 37, 38, 39 AR Reading - 3rd book should be just about finished

    Wednesday - Practice wb - pp.68, 69, 70

    Thursday - Selection Test

    Friday - - Vocabulary test - page 44 in vocabulary wb. Blemish, blunt, capable, conclude, detect, fatigue

    AR READING TEST
    TAKE YOUR THIRD AR TEST BY FRIDAY 10/15/2010

    Remember - you must read 3 AR books by the completion of this quarter, AND SCORE AT LEAST AN 85% BETWEEN YOUR FOUR SELECTIONS.

    ANY STUDENT IN NEED OF EXTRA HELP IN MATH MAY SEE ME ON TUESDAY OR THURSDAY MORNINGS - 7:30 - IN MY CLASSROOM - ROOM 112. PLEASE MAKE ARRANGEMENTS WITH ME PRIOR TO YOUR TUTORIAL SESSIONS ON EITHER DAY.
