Welcome! Seventh grade students will relate math to the real world. This is accomplished by making sense of world data, using formulas, expressions, equations, geometry and measurement. Students will apply decimal and fraction concepts, operations with fractions, percents and integers, ratios, rates and proportions. Students will make use of proportions for scale and similar drawings. Together we will interpret and create graphs from equations. Students will apply probability to the real world. Seventh graders will work on several interdisciplinary projects, such as a metric scavenger hunt. They will also explore some history as they re-discover the Pythagorean theorem. They will be in groups and sharing their ideas to help promote their understanding of the material. Students will have opportunities to analyze and use the problem solving process on a variety of different problems.
