Hello Families! I still can't believe we are this far into the year. Where has the time gone? Please help your child be the best 1st grader he/ she can be by studying the following skills and by READING EVERY NIGHT! The Math skills your child needs to work on are: -addition skills for numbers with the sum up to 20 -subtraction skills for numbers 20 and below - reading analog clocks (An analog clock is a clock that has hands.) - identifying all coins - counting coins - measuring with feet, inches, and centimeters - fractions (1/2, 1/3, 1/4, and a whole) The Language Arts skills your child needs to work on are: - compound words - contractions - alphabetical order - sentence structure - blends using consonants - apostrophes - Writing about Small Moments Remember that homework is sent home every Monday and is due every Thursday. Homework includes Math, Language Arts, and Spelling. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Spelling words are written in the weekly newsletter. Spelling tests are on Friday. Please study every night. Our Special Area schedule for the 3rd nine weeks is as follows: Monday- Library (Don't forget to return your book.) Tuesday- Guidance Wednesday- PE and Science Lab (Don't forget to wear sneakers.) Thursday- Arts Lab Friday- Tech Lab I love being a partner in your child's education.
