Grading

- Grades in German class are broken down as follows:
50% unit tests, quizzes, projects, graded assignments
25% in-class and homework assignments, notebook
25% participation
- Participation is very important in the foreign language classroom: You must be willing to speak, read, write and sing in German in order to learn the language! Being an active participant in class means working well with partners on communicative activities, volunteering answers, making an effort to speak German in the classroom and being respectful of your classmates and teacher.
- Grading guidelines and detailed rubrics with expectations for different levels of achievement can be found on the German website of FMS under "Grading guidelines” (http://www.quia.com/pages/notenrichtl.html). You can get to the German website by clicking on “Teacher and Team web sites” on the FMS homepage.

Homework

Homework reinforces and supports your language learning. By doing your homework, you practice and repeat the structures and words you have learned in class! Homework assignments will be announced and posted in class and on the German website. It is your responsibility to copy the homework assignment into your A-Pads. You are expected to turn in all your work on the due date. I will accept late homework assignments for late credit. Credit will not be given for assignments handed in a week past the due date. If you have been absent, you are responsible for finding out what you missed on the day that you return. Homework due after absence will be accepted for full credit if submitted within a reasonable period of time after the absence.
