Welcome to the Northside Library Web Page. I hope that you will check this web page for information on the databases that we subscribe to at Northside. These databases can be accessed from home and will come in handy when students have to miss school because of illness or when they need to work on projects at home. We will also give you the address for the Northside Library OPAC (catalog) so that you can search for books from our school library collection of books including parenting books. Culturegrams - This database is great for country reports. Besides the usual statistics, you can find recipes of the country, photos, and even hear the national anthem and the correct pronunciation of the country name. New this year is even more information on Canada - great for those fifth grade reports.
Exploring Nature Educational Resource - This website offers facts and drawings of animals compiled by author-illustrator Sheri Amsel. Sheri has been a speaker at our school lfor the past two years and will be coming back to visit with this year's third grade students on March 31.
Grolier Online - This database is really three databases in one: Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia, Encyclopedia Americana, and The New Book of Knowledge. For younger students, jump to Grolier Online Kids in the upper right-hand corner.
TeachingBooks - This database has wonderful book and author information including author programs, book guides, book readings, and author websites.
WorldBook Online - This is the electronic version of the World Book Encyclopedia and has also includes a kids version. Look for the link on the green line in the upper right-hand corner.
