World War II Project

Choose ONE of the following projects OR see me for approval of a topic and research the topic, using textbooks, books, internet and/or interviews. You will sign up to present your project during the weeks of March 5-8, 12-16, or March 26-30.

You must know the name of your topic by Thursday, March 8

Possible Projects

The Home Front
*Make a poster about rationing in World War II.  Describe what they had to ration and why.

*Draw a poster of "Rosie the Riveter."  Describe the move of women from the home to the work force.

*Research the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League and give a report to the class.

* Find examples of four propaganda posters and describe how they were used to motivate the American people in support of the war.

*With a partner bring music and perform the "jitterbug" dressed as a "bobby soxer". Extra credit:  Teach the dance to the class!

*Build a model or draw a picture of any 1940 to 1945 automobile.  Describe the car, the cost, the gas mileage, and how the car was adverised.  :

The War:

*Read any biography of an American WWII hero write a one-page report of that person.

*Watch a movie about events that happened in World War II (with parental permission) and write a movie review and prepare a short talk to the class.

*Create a diorama of the D-Day invasion or another battle from World War II.

*Build a model or draw a picture of one of the WWII bombers, aircraft carriers.

*Watch the movie The Tuskegee Airmen.  Write a one page paper typed that describes the obstacles the African-American servicemen, particulary these aviators, had to overcome to defend their country.  Use specific scenes from the movie to prove your points.

*Provide a picture and a brief description for four of the following aircraft: B-29 /Super Fortress, Spitfire, P-38, B-17, Zero Fighter, Stuka, Messerschmitt, or P-51


Remember these are just suggestions you can choose your own topic!!

Different Ways You Can Present Topics of Your Choice

*Present a 5 minute PowerPoint.

*Write a report  2 pages long about your topic.

*Interview anyone who lived during World War II about their experiences.  Write a 1 age typed paper and report to the class.

*Create a play about events during World War II.

*Create a large poster with multi-colors, make it neat and attractive.

*Guide the class through an activity or game about 5 minutes long.

*Create a detailed display 3D, props, etc.
