THESOURCE.COM: What was your style of fashion back in the day?
PRODIGY (OF MOBB DEEP): Probably some two-tone Lee's, some shell-toe Adidas. That's about it, you know what I mean? Some back-in-the-day shit.
SEAN "PUFFY" COMBS: I was mixing and matching flavors, the same way I do now. What you see now is what you would've seen before, a little less jewelry though.
THESOURCE.COM: That's what's up. Did you have the gold chains?
CL: Nah, I didn't have no gold chains. I'm from the ghetto. You know. I collected cans before, that's how hard it was.
THESOURCE.COM: So, how does hip-hop influence you now and how do you flip it? STICKY FINGAZ: Well, I am hip-hop. I'm the one that makes the influence on others, you know what I'm saying? Not how hip-hop makes an influence on me. But how can hip-hop make an influence on itself? I am hip-hop. So I'm the one that makes an influence on everyone else.
DRAG-ON: Well, you know it really didn't change me, you know. I feel just the same way, you know what I'm saying? Jeans and a white tee.
Just a little interview I picked up off the source Mag. You see even artist of these days thinks hip hop has changed. Hip Hop to me is them old style groups with the pop and break dancing. And the not so flashy cloths when money was an object not a symbol to make yourself completely over.
You see even people that make up the Hip Hop nation see that it has changed throughout the years. It's thing now is how are we going to change it back, or can we change it back? I'm not saying rap songs now don't make sence or doesn't send a positve message, but somethings has gotten out of hand and has tore rapperes apart. Now its a east/west-side rivalry before they would stick together. Now we got rappers saying they going to kill this and kill that. Rappers then rapped on the good stuff, rapped on love, rapped on togetherness, and on positive issues. To me it turned into some gang it is a battle now, and innocent rappers are selling out and dying young over this.
Rappers these days stay in trouble you here day by day in papers and on the news. Big issue now is the Puff Daddy trial. Is he really guilty? I think so but it's like it doesn't really matter right now cuz he has money. Money talks remember that. These rappers should grow up and remember they are rolemodels to a lot of underaged children not just adults. More kids buy cd's than adults. R&B artist K-Ci is being sued for exposing his naked body in front of an audience at a live concert. Things like this you can't do you have young children in the crowd.
