REVISING VOCABULARY for full credit
The secret to learning how to use words you memorized for the test? Read. In order to help (some might say force) you to read, do the following for each word assigned(be careful to check the number of words you've been assigned):
1.) Go to the New York Times Online (you'll probably have to subscribe - it's free). Do a "search" for your word. If you have no luck,access The Times on PROQUEST. You'll need the password (=welcome) and the User Name (email Mrs. Briel or ask a librarian).
If you still have no luck with The Times , try these links, then continue with the directions, below:
* Chicago Tribune
V Boston Globe
2.) Read until you find your word, then copy the sentence as well as one before or one after it.
3.) Rewrite the sentence from your original essay (you may need to change it substantially).
4.) Turn in the copied sentences and your rewritten sentence - total of 3 sentences.
