Parents:
1) Please ask your student about his/her ESL class EACH day of class (Trails-Monday, Wednesday, Friday/Creek-Tuesday, Thursday). What did you work on today? What did you learn? What are you supposed to practice? Do you have any other homework?
2) If you have any cultural items you would like to our class to see, please send with your child, or contact me for a time when you could visit our class to show and explain about the items.
3) You are welcome to visit our class during ESL classtime. To make sure I'm at your child's school, please call ahead to check.
4) Remember to discuss any books, television shows, etc., in either your home language or English. Research shows that explaining background knowledge in the home language helps the student to take advantage of parent knowledge as well as culture. Please don't let your child miss out on either of these. They are so important in understanding content area subjects (math, science, social studies, etc.)
