A "highley" recommended book for educators is Palm Handheld Computers—A Complete Resource for Classroom Teachers, available through ISTE ($34.95 for nonmembers). See the link for ordering below. It includes a CD with much of the free software from the Hi-CE project.

*a handheld computer is in many ways comparable to desktops of just a few years ago-at a fraction of the cost and weight!
*one handheld can store the text of the Bible, textbook, plus more than a dozen novels all at the same time.
*almost all Palms are capable of beaming. Print jobs can also be beamed to the printer fairly easily-no cables required!
We looked very hard to find a freeware gradebook application, but did not get the installation totally complete.
