EC and EL Computer
Applications
This is my
4th year as a member of the Saint Mark's Technical Team. I assist Early Childhood and Elementary teachers with integrating
technology and technology application instruction.
Early Childhood students
will be introduced to computer terminology and focus upon basic computer components. The 3s use Mille's Mathouse, Baliy's Bookhouse and JumpStart Preschool to assist with reinforcing classroom content. The 4s use Mille's Mathouse, Baliy's Bookhous, Letterbugs, Kid Works 2 and Kid Pix Deluxe 3.
Kindergarten uuses Letterbugs, Kidworks, Numbers Recovered, Numbers Undercovered, Kid Works 2, Kid Pix Deluxe 3
and Type to Learn Jr.
First grade uses Type to Learn Jr, Letterbugs, Consonant Blends and Digraphs, Numbers Undercover, Numbers Recovered and Kid Pix. Beginning in Kindergarten students create simple projects, such as drawing a Turkey with Kid Pix, finding words for special Holidays, create patterns, and create a page for their grandparents book.
Our 2nd through 5th grade students create more advanced projects and use a variety of software in the lab and classroom. For instance, 2nd grade uses EasyBook to create their original stories and a math book, 3rd grade creates a Character slide show with Kid Pix, 4th grade uses Power Point to create a book report, and 5th grade creates web pages with MS Word.
All software applications enhance and enrich classroom instruction in content
areas such as spelling, reading, writing and math.
All classrooms
have internet access. This is a tremendous asset for enhancing and enriching
classroom instruction. Students will be able to access their files from any
campus computer. Additionally, I will be working with classroom teachers to
assist them with developing meaningful lessons that compliment their instructional
units. All students will have opportunities to access age appropriate educational
internet sites. Also, the internet will be a tool for students to conduct
research for their various school projects.
All Early
Childhood and Elementary students attend Computer Applications class once
per week. Misuse of network, computer equipment/peripherals and software will
affect the student's technology privileges.
