Phonics Rules:
1. When there is 1 vowel in a word or syllable and it comes between 2 consonants, it is usually short
2. After short vowels, the sound of “k” is written ck
3. You double l, f, and s following a single vowel at the end of a one syllable word
4. When you add “ed” to s, x, f, p, k, ck, sh, or ch, it says the “t” sound
5.When there are 2 vowels in a word, the 1st one says its name and the other is usually silent.
6. After a short vowel the digraph of ch is written as tch. ex: watch
7. When there is only one vowel in a word or syllable and the vowel comes at the end of the word, the vowel is usually long. ex: be, so, dry, he, go
8. When y comes at the end of a word or syllable, it says either long "i" or "e"
9. Vowels i and o may say their own name if followed by 2 consonants.
