WELCOME MARVELOUS MATHEMATICIANS! NOTE: Please refresh/reload page to get the latest version. WHAT WE'RE LEARNING During the next few weeks, our math class will be learning about geometry. You can expect to see work that provides practice classifying polygons and solid figures as well as finding area, perimeter, and volume. VOCABULARY POLYGON -- A closed figure with straight lines. QUADRILATERAL -- A polygon with 4 sides. TRAPEZOID -- A polygon with four sides, only two which are parallel CONGRUENT -- Same size, same shape HOW YOU CAN HELP Ask your child to identify shapes of objects in and around the home, such as food containers, cooking utensils, road signs, and building structures. Have your child find shapes in newspapers and magazines. Go on a "shape hunt" and have your child find as many unusual shapes as possible. This will help your child understand that geometry is all around them. UPCOMING EVENTS: 2/23 Report cards go home 2/23 Fast Facts 7's 3/8 Science Test 3/9 Western Party
