Pizitz Middle School Seventh Grade Science Teacher

Miss Stephens            7th grade Science

“Enter to Learn, Leave to Achieve!”

Rules:
1) Obey all Pizitz rules.
2) Be prepared.
3) Respect yourself, others, and your school.
4) Listen and follow directions.

- If you choose to follow these rules, we will have a fun and successful year!

- If you choose to break any of the rules, you are choosing to accept the consequences for your actions, which are outlined in your handbook.

Procedures:
• Entering the room- enter quietly, sharpen pencils, and begin working on the bellringer immediately.
• If you are tardy – If you have a pass, hand it to me or leave it on the ticket clipboard.  If you do not have a pass, enter quietly and sign the ticket clipboard.  (A ticket will be issued.)
• If you are absent – Give me your excuse or yellow admit slip.  Check the folders and the assignment calendar on the front bulletin board for missed work.  YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for collecting, completing, and turning in makeup assignments on time (see number of days allowed in handbook).  This also includes you showing me any homework that was due on the day you were absent.  You can then check your homework from me or a classmate.
• Participating in class – You are expected to participate in class in many ways.  When in a whole class discussion, raise your hand and wait to be recognized before speaking.
*       Passes - Each nine weeks you will receive four passes to be used whenever you leave the room (bathroom, locker, water, etc.).  Unused passes may be redeemed at the end of each nine week period for bonus points!
• Grading – Grades are based on a point system.  Your average will be determined by the formula below.  YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for recording your grades so that you can determine your average at any time.  If you find a mistake or have a question about a grade posted on the computer, let me know as soon as possible.

TOTAL POINTS EARNED ÷ TOTAL POINTS POSSIBLE × 100 = _____

• Homework/Effort Grade – you will receive one, 100 point grade automatically at the beginning of each 9 weeks.  This grade will be averaged in with your other grades at the end of the 9 weeks.  You can easily keep this 100 by completing homework, bringing it to class, and correcting any wrong answers.  Also included in this grade is making an effort to participate in class.  Any offenses will deduct points from your homework/effort grade.
(3 points per offense the 1st and 2nd 9 weeks, 4 points the 3rd 9 weeks, and 5 points the 4th 9 weeks)
• Notebooks/science folder – All of your science work from a particular chapter/unit will be kept in your binder.  At the end of each chapter/unit, you will have a “notebook quiz” and will turn in all the papers from that chapter/unit in a stapled notebook.  (If you do not have your notebook in class on quiz day, 10 points will automatically be deducted, and will continue to be deducted each day until the quiz is completed, up to 50 points.  YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for making up your notebook quiz.)
• Bellringers – Each day, a bellringer will be written on the board.  It will be copied and answered daily.  These will be included in your notebook for each chapter/unit.
• Miscellaneous – Dismissal, trash, pencils, gum, effort grade, announcements, emergencies, test days, cheating, visitors, substitute teachers
• DO YOUR BEST.  I PROMISE TO DO THE SAME.

I am excited to be your science teacher and I am looking forward to a GREAT year!  You can succeed!!!
