I was fortunate enough to interview Mr. Powell, our schools assistant principal for the red house. Please read on.
Q: What is your job? What do you do?
A: I'm the assistant principal of the red house. It consists of the grades 6-8. I'm responsible for 7 teams of teachers, I make sure that every one gets their own report card. I also set up the schedule and all of the assessments that you take.
Q: What is your part in keeping the school running efficiently?
A: I come up with different ideas and strategies to help make the students and teachers lives easier.
Q: Did you always want to be a assistant principal?
A: No, I always wanted to be a guidance counselor. It was after teaching, and becoming a guidance counselor, tghat i decided to move on to becoming a Assistant principal.
Q: Why did you want to be a guidance counselor?
A: Well, i decided that i would do better to help kids by not talking to them about school, but to deal with them one to one. That way, we can try and talk about personal things and help the person in any way possible.
Q: Is it a hard job?
A: Yes, everyday, there is a different challenge. You never know what new challenges or events will happen. It isn't a routine job.
Q:How long have you been involved in education?
A: Let me count.. uh... That should be nine years now.
Q: If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be?
A: An Oak tree, it is a nice, strong tree.
Q: What are your current hobbies that you enjoy?
A:I'm into working out right now, i play basketball, and oh yeah! i just learned how to play chess.
Q: Do you like playing the computer?
A: Yes!
Q: Where do you see yourself five years from now?
A: I think i would be a Principal of a Middle School. Maybe i would go back to Graduate School
