Course Outline Letter to Parents The first project will involve using Photoshop and a variety of photographs that I took in New Mexico in order to design an advertisement poster for an American Indian PowWow that would take place in Taos, New Mexico. The class will need to do some research on the area and the various tribes and the culture of the Indians in order to catch the visual essence in their poster. Some of their finished posters will be sent to Cullowee to be used in an exhibit of student work at the NC Center for the Advancement of Teaching. American Indian Poster Project
Currently this class is working on a 3-D design solution to design a package design for a white box they were given. Their purpose is to come up with a container for a product that could be sold at an American Indian Pow Wow. They will have to design the entire box, lid and bottom, print it out and fit it to the box correctly using a sticker maker as an adhesive device. The biggest challenge is to make sure that each piece of information actually shows up on the area of the box that it was intended to. Spirit Week Poster Project Students will receive an Ad example showing two jars of Jif peanut butter laying inside a peanut shell (its origin). The design solution is to come up with another product and create a relationship between it and its origin. It will also be a magazine Ad. Jif Peanut Design ProblemJif Peanut Design Problem
