GUIDELINES FOR EXPECTED PROGRESS

1. If you have not previously studied for or taken the licensing exam, when you take Practice Test A (STUDY MODE), you will likely score between 90 - 110 out of 200. A score below 90 suggests you will probably need to devote extra time to the preparation process. A score above 110 indicates you might not need to put in as much time as the average licensure candidate.

If you have previously taken the licensing exam, your score on Practice Test A (STUDY MODE) will typically be close to what your raw score was on the EPPP. For example, if you score 475 on the EPPP, your Practice Test A score will be about 135.

2. When a practice test is re-taken about a month after first taking it (RETAKE MODE), it is expected that you will miss 5 questions less than half as many questions as were missed the first time. For example, if you score 100/200 the first time taking a test (missing 100 items), it is expected that you will miss only 45 items (50 items – 5 items) the second time taking the same practice test, about a month later, for a score of 155.

2a. If you make the expected progress in retake mode, review/study missed questions again the following day. Any questions that you still have not mastered, review the following day, etc., until you have 100% mastery.

2b. If you do not make the expected progress in retake mode, this suggests either that not enough time was spent carefully reviewing and studying each question and the rationale, or that you are experiencing some problems with retention. Carefully review all questions missed on the retake, every day, over the course of the next week.

3. When practice test questions are taken for a third time (TEST MODE), it is expected that no more than five to ten questions should be missed. All missed questions should be carefully reviewed.

4. Over time, you should also see progress when taking practice tests for the first time.

4a. Your score on Practice Test B (STUDY MODE) should be at least 10 points higher than your score on Practice Test A (STUDY MODE).

4b. Your score on Practice Test C (STUDY MODE) should be at least 125 when taken for the first time.

4c. Your score on Practice Test D (STUDY MODE) and Practice Test E (TEST MODE) should be 130  - 135 + when taken for the first time.
