helpwithfractions.com will be a good resource when we start working with fractions.

http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/mathgames/fractions/memory_fractions3.htm is another good resource.

Joke of the Week:
What do you call a snail on a ship?
Answer below

Below you will find the problem of the week.

Name all the prime numbers between 0 and 50. Explain why the other numbers are composite. You do not have to list all the factors just prove that the number is not prime. Example: 51 is composite because 5+1=6 and three can go into 6 so three goes into 51.

How many pennies does it take to equal a mile? Copy question. Explain how you solved this problem. Worth 10 points.

It's a hot summer day, and Eric the Sheep is at the end of a line of sheep waiting to be shorn. There are 50 sheep in front of him. Being an impatient sort of sheep, though, every time the shearer takes a sheep from the front of the line to be shorn, Eric sneaks up two places in line. How many times will a sheep be shorn before Eric? This is worth 20 points. Copy question and show work on how you solved. I want to see the work so I know you did it and were not just given the answer.

Sally went to the store and bought a pencil and an eraser for $1.10. If the pencil was a dollar more than the eraser, how much did each item cost? Worth a ten point bonus. Copy the question and show work on how you solved this problem. Turn in.
